Our research presents a novel biotech method to create water vapor-resistant cryogels with improved integrity. We successfully transformed rice straw into nanofibrils and used live cells to deposit PHA particles within the cryogel pores. This innovative approach resulted in a 6-fold decrease in water sorption capacity while preserving cryogel density and elasticity.
